At Hawley Orthodontics, we believe in giving back — not just to our Papillion orthodontic patients, but to the entire Omaha-area community. We live by three simple rules: smile, be kind, do good. These statements guide everything we do both in our Omaha orthodontist clinic and outside the office.
This summer, we invite you and your family to smile, be kind and do some good by volunteering in your community. Not only will you be helping people in need; your kids will learn the value of supporting those who are less fortunate. Not to mention that warm, fuzzy feeling you’ll get about making a positive difference in someone’s life. Volunteering really is beneficial for everyone involved.

Do I need braces for an overbite? Do I need Invisalign for crooked teeth? If you’re asking yourself these questions, the best way to find out is to visit an orthodontist for a consultation. Orthodontists like Dr. Hawley are experts in preventing, diagnosing and treating issues with the positioning, alignment and spacing of the teeth and jaws. They have the knowledge and experience to determine if braces or Invisalign are necessary to perfect your smile. While the only way to know for sure if you could benefit from straightening your teeth is to visit a specialist, in the meantime, we can give you a pretty good idea by describing the common problems orthodontic treatment can fix. Snoring isn’t all that common in little ones and only about one in 10 kids snore so when it happens, it can be startling to parents. It’s not always a sign of something serious. Minor issues like allergies or an acute illness, such as a cold, could be the culprit. However, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on it since snoring in children can also stem from asthma, a deviated septum, enlarged tonsils and adenoids or sleep apnea. As a Papillion orthodontist, I’ve treated many young patients over the years who snored for a variety of different reasons, including sleep apnea. Can orthodontics cure sleep apnea and snoring in kids? It will depend on the underlying cause of the snoring but your orthodontist can be a great person to turn to for guidance.
July is National Ice Cream Month! As if we needed a reason to celebrate, ice cream happens to be a braces-friendly food. We always recommend that our Papillion, NE braces patients stick with soft foods when they first get their braces on and after adjustments since the teeth can be slightly sensitive. If you wear Invisalign, the same holds true at the start of treatment and, occasionally, when you pop in a new set of aligners. Cold drinks and snacks have the added benefit of numbing your mouth a bit to further reduce sensitivity. Ice cream doesn’t involve chewing, it’s cold and, most importantly, it’s delicious, so it checks all of the boxes. Just be sure to brush your teeth after indulging to keep your smile healthy. So, where will your favorite Omaha-area orthodontist and his team members be heading for a few scoops in honor of National Ice Cream Month? Here’s the Hawley Orthodontics guide to the best ice cream in Omaha and Papillion: Read More
